Nice if true...but wind isn't a constant source

However, it would be nicer to lose many of the archaic power sapping appliances and other poorly engineered devices that we all use in our day to day living. From an economic point of view, consumers should demand better for their dollar as it will cost them less to operate over a given appliance's lifetime.

What doesn't make sense is the huge infrastructure costs for such an implementation as well as the unknown long term maintenance costs. Doesn't it make more sense to create better products that are easily replaceable as better products come onto the market? Each household is more easily modified by our habits and the use of more efficient products than by moving wholesale to a new technology. Don't people want to save money? Of course they do. Government's should encourage this much more aggressively as this would perk up the retail sectors.

Also, I'm not sure if large windmill farms would be a pleasant proposition from a noise point of view.
